From maternity to newborn to family....
What an honor it was to be part of this family session here in Fredericksburg, Texas! As a maternity, newborn and family portrait photographer, being able to do all three for the same client is a dream. That is my goal - to build relationships with people that keep them coming back to me.
Taylor was one of my first maternity sessions. We had an outdoor location all figured out, but then at the last minute it started to rain — cats n dogs kinda rain. Bummer with a capital B! With no studio, I quickly called on friends that have large spaces we could use. We ended up shooting on the second floor of a Main Street building. It was just barely big enough to put up our background. And just barely big enough for me to get far enough back for full length shots. I will do what it takes!
We got our gear up there and Taylor got changed. I positioned my tripod and camera and ... drip, drip, drip... I had water hitting my head from the leaky roof. This just goes to show... you never know what's going on behind the scenes at a photo shoot.
Despite the rain, the shoot was so fun! We had some good laughs between the fabric tosses.
When it came to the newborn shoot, I already felt like I knew Taylor and Mackie for years. Being part of something so special and knowing I'm creating photos they'll cherish forever makes every click worth it.
To see their baby boy hit 1 year old was a milestone for me too! As a portrait photographer, people — and babies — freeze they way you last saw them, so when I saw how big Mason had gotten since his newborn photos, I was giddy. (I don't know why I expect them to stay the same.)
It's always a gamble... how a 1 year old is going to tolerate a 90-minute outdoor portrait session. He was great! Of course, Steve (my hubby and somewhat goofy sidekick) acted as the stand up comedian for this 1-year-old and kept him smiling when needed.
